Foundation Courses

Have you ever wanted to do yoga but don’t feel confident about attending a class?

Here’s your chance to start at the very beginning. The next Foundation Yoga Courses commence in  February. These courses will take you step by step through the basics ensuring all students have a solid foundation in yoga.
The practice of yoga increases strength and flexibility as well as bringing a sense of calm, balance and vitality to your life.

NOW IS THE TIME TO START!

This is an eight week course designed to give students a solid foundation in the practice of yoga. It is a must for beginners and is a prerequisite to attending the Multi-level Classes offered at the Centre.

What the Foundation Course Covers:

  • Yoga postures (asanas)
  • Correct Breathing
  • Alignment of the Spine
  • Correct Carriage of Head and Neck
  • The Body as a Whole
  • Energy Flow
  • Sequencing Movement
  • Balance
  • Concentration
  • Relaxation /Meditation
  • Ethical Disciplines and Personal Observances from the Yoga Sutras

Cost of the Course is $115 which includes a yoga workbook and is payable on commencement. Bookings are Essential as courses fill quickly.

Multi-level Classes

Although the Multi-level classes have a set format, they are not run as courses but on a casual on-going basis and are available to all students who have completed the Foundation Yoga course. Students are also able to attend as many Multi-level classes per week as they wish. Cost of all Multi-level classes is $12. A discount will be offered for those wishing to pay for a 10 session block ($100) and students who wish to attend more than one class per week may obtain a yoga card for 10weeks at $170. Payments in advance will not be refunded if a student discontinues classes but credit will be held for future classes.

Gentle Yoga

These on-going weekly classes, are designed for those who wish to do a gentler, passive form of yoga and are ideally suited to older members of the community or anyone who feels they have limited flexibility or stiffness in specific areas of the body. The classes cater for the individual and their special needs.
There is no pre-requisite for joining these classes but if you are unsure of the type of exercise you should be doing because of illness, injury or disability, please check with your preferred health practitioner before attending class. Cost of this class is $12.


Yoga for Healing

This is a weekly session to promote healing and is by donation only. This session is open to all those who suffer chronic debilitating illnesses, including stress-related disorders or anyone who feels they need to heal and regain well being. These sessions consist predominantly of relaxation and meditation with very gentle stretching and breathing exercises.


Pre and Post-natal Classes

Pre-natal mums come to yoga for the same reasons as everyone else relaxation, flexibility, to strengthen and tone and for general well being.
These classes offer specialized tuition which will include yoga practices suited for pregnancy, looking after the lover back and pelvis, strengthening the thigh muscles and learning a variety of relaxation techniques, breathing practices and meditation in other words, general maintenance of body mind and spirit. Because the pre-natal classes are smaller, individual needs can be assessed and specific individual programmes offered.
The post-natal classes offer a relaxed atmosphere where new mums can bring their babies along and learn gentle exercise to tone the body, relaxation and instruction in yoga they can do with their babies a great time to share with your baby and other mums. Cost of these classes is $12.
